Chairman
Chris R
Ride Group: Capps & Maccs
Chris joined SMCC in January 2018 and quickly became a significant part of SMCC. He has been on the committee from 2020 and is the third Chairman in SMCC since 2021. Chris works closely with members for a joint vision for the future of SMCC.
A word from the Chairman: ‘SMCC is an amazing club and I believe its most attractive attribute (besides the very friendly and generous members) is the balance between cycling and social activity. It most certainly is not testosterone fueled and is not a club where "it is all about the bike.’
Kit Manager
Tony
Ride Group: Capps
Tony joined SMCC in 2015. He has been the go-to kit manager since 2019. Opening the kit shop, managing size enquiries and organising the orders to be distributed.
‘What I love about the club?: the friendships I have found over the years, as a result of not just the rides but also the social events and the holidays we have been on together.’
Club Treasure
Steve R
Ride Group: Espressos
Steve has been a member since 2014 and selected to Club Treasure in 2017. Steve manages the clubs finances making sure they are healthy but with plenty of monetary support for club socials.
Steve thinks: ‘The best thing about the club is the people. It’s a great camaraderie, welcoming, riders levels right through the spectrum (aside from hard core racing) and with group rides throughout the week and on Sundays. Plus lots of socials, at home and abroad!’
New Membership Coordinator & Marketing
Charlotte
Ride Group: Capps & Maccs
Charlotte has been a member of SMCC since its humble beginnings in 2014. In 2021 she became the New Membership Coordinator running the popular Saturday Intro Ride for potential new members. This role also sees her being the first contact for club enquires. Charlotte also oversees the club marketing and socials together with other club members.
What is special about SMCC: ‘Aside from the great club rides, my favourite part of being a member of SMCC is the wide variety of friendships I have made over the years.’
Club Secretary
Richard
Ride Group: Maccs
Richard joined SMCC in 2015 and became Club Secretary in 2021. He integrates new members into facebook and into the WhatsApp community, he also really excels in chasing members of the annual subs for the Club Treasure to balance the books.
About SMCC: ‘I love the camaraderie of the club. Very welcoming to new members. Lots of social events and twice weekly rides to suit all abilities.’
Ride Coordinator
Roger
Ride Group: Capps & Maccs
Roger has been an integral member of SMCC since the club first started back in 2014. Being appointed Ride Coordinator in 2023 was a natural choice as Roger knows everyone in the club and can choose the weekly ride captain with ease.
Asked what Roger’s favourite part of being a member of SMCC: ‘SMCC has a very friendly, inclusive helpful, broad church of members. It runs regular bi weekly rides with pace & distance options and a 'no drop' policy. Additionally rides abroad feature most years as do participation in many of the local & national sportives.’
Social Secretary
Edina
Ride Group: Lattes & Capps
Edina joined SMCC in 2021. With Edina’s organisational skills and knowledge of how to throw a good party, she was the perfect addition to the committee in 2023 as Social Secretary. SMCC is a social club with annual summer and Christmas parties, visits to the Olympic velodrome, a commemorative ride and weekly meet ups in the cold winter months.
Edina view on SMCC: ‘I love meeting other members and making new friendships. SMCC provides an option to ride even if, like me, you are not a fast cyclist. And, love exploring new routes we go on Sundays, I have seen so much more of Surrey and discovered sooo many lovely coffee stops since joining SMCC.’
