Before you join us on a ride

Facebook & Intro Rides

Join our facebook group to give you an idea about our club rides with images from our weekly group rides. We also announce when the next Intro Ride is happening on Facebook.

You can also follow us on Instagram.

Get the kit

The majority of us wear lycra on a Sunday morning, mainly for comfort on longer cycles, but please feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable cycling the longer distances in.

The club is for members only. You don’t need to wear club kit for a club ride but we do recommend to purchase some club kit. For information about club kit, see our club kit page.

Get a Bike

We recommend you bring a road bike for when you join us for a ride ensuring your bike is mechanically sound, fully functioning and in good order, tyres at good pressure etc.

Wearing a helmet is mandatory.

Bring spare inner tube, repair kit, levers and a pump.

Wear suitable clothing to suit conditions (bear in mind if you arrive wearing a jacket and you warm up, you will need to carry the jacket).

Have a look at some of our images from our Sunday morning rides.

What to expect on a ride

Speed

We have four speed groups on our rides.

The Ride Coordinator creates additional groups if they are more 8 in one group.

  • The "Espressos" usually do around 30kph or 18.5mph average.

  • The "Maccs" usually do around 25kph or 15.5mph average.

  • The "Capps” usually do around 22kph or 12.5mph average.

  • The “Lattes” usually do 20kph or 11mph.

All groups are no-drop.

Routes

Each group has a ride captain who comes with a planned route and meeting point in the local area. Members sign up for rides by 7pm Friday evening on Facebook Members Only page. Once the ride captain have been chosen for your group, you will receive the route details for Sunday morning.

When you arrive on Sunday morning, make yourself known to your ride captain for your chosen group.

Before you can ride with us on a Sunday ride, you need to join us for our Intro Ride. This ride will give you the chance to meet members but also an idea of the signals and calls that are expected on every group ride.

Cake & Coffee

We love a good cup of coffee coffee with a delicious cake or a sausage roll. We organise our rides around cafe stops, sometimes managing to coordinate the cafe stop between the Lattes, Cappuccinos, Macchiatos and Espressos.

After a ride

Pubs

We generally finish off in The Crown after a Sunday ride. Even if you’re not out cycling, feel free to come and join us for a pint – we’ll be easy to spot!
